PolyAsset Platinum

Description

PolyAsset Platinum is a metallic asset tag built on polyester rather than paper or vinyl — the face stock used where a label has to stay legible long after it stops being new. The aluminum-look finish gives the tag the appearance buyers expect on machinery, plant equipment and capital assets, without the cost or the fixing method of an engraved metal plate.

Where it fits

Platinum is specified where the tag is doing two jobs at once: carrying an identifier, and looking like a permanent part of the asset. That combination suits machinery, tooling, plant equipment, generators, network hardware and any capital item that a technician or auditor should recognise as tagged at a glance.

Sizes and numbering

Four label sizes are available: 1" x 2", 3/4" x 1-7/8", 5/8" x 1-3/8" and 1/2" x 1". Size against the smallest asset in your programme rather than the largest — a format that fits a compressor and fails on a hand tool means running two orders.

Numbering is configured when you order, with five options:

• Human-readable numbering below the barcode
• Human-readable numbering above the barcode
• Barcode only
• Numbering only
• Neither — a plain tag

Most asset registers use a barcode with human-readable numbering alongside it. The barcode is what the scanner reads at audit; the printed characters are what a technician reads standing in front of the equipment when a scanner is unavailable.

Choosing between the PolyAsset finishes

Platinum and White are the same underlying construction with different faces, and the choice usually comes down to how the tag is read.

Choose Platinum when appearance matters — asset-facing equipment, anything a client or inspector sees, or a fleet where you want tagged items to read as managed.

Choose PolyAsset White when barcodes are scanned routinely. The white semi-gloss face gives a barcode more contrast to work with, and metallic faces can reflect under direct overhead lighting.

If barcodes are central to your programme and you still want the metallic look, order samples and test them against your own scanners, in the lighting where scanning actually happens. That test takes an afternoon and settles the question properly.

When a different line is the better specification

PolyAsset is designed to stay attached and stay readable. It can be removed with effort, and it comes off largely intact. If your concern is that a tag could be moved from one asset to another, look at PolyBreak, which fractures on removal, or PolyVoid, which leaves a VOID pattern on both the equipment and the label.

Ordering

Samples are available before you commit to a full run — worth doing if the tags are going onto anything textured, curved or exposed to weather.
