Maker Code
A 5-digit code appearing after the flag
in theJAN symbology.
It is the code given to the maker of products, import dealers or venders.
The
maker code is administrated by
the DCC.
Margin
Spaces where nothing is printed, are required at each end
of a barcode and should be 10 times that of a narrow
bar. In this case, it is the same as a Quiet zone.
(See Quiet Zone)
Module
The minimum units of black/white bars in a multi-level bar
code.
Modules compose an element, and
elements compose
a character.
Modulus
A coefficient or numerical measure often used in the calculation
of
checkdigit.
(See the page of Checkdigit)
MRD
<Minimum Reflection Difference>
The difference of reflection ratios of white/black bars.
Where the minimum element width is < 1.016mm
Reflection Ratio of white bars (RL) 37.5 or more
Reflection Ratio of black bars (RD) 30.0 or less
MRD (RL - RD) might be 7.5 or more
Where the minimum element width is > 1.016mm
Reflection Ratio of white bars (RL) 30.0 or more
Reflection Ratio of black bars (RD) 25.0 or less
MRD(RL - RD) might be 5.0 or more
** Reflection Ratio is on the condition of
red light in 660nm(nanometer = 1/100000000 m) wavelength.
(See PCS)
Multi-level
One of two bar code types,
having varying width of black and white bars:
EAN, CODE-93, CODE-128, etc.
(See binary level)
